Coca-Cola's Superbowl Ad Features Gay Dads

Last night Coca-Cola premiered a Superbowl ad that was awesome to some and horrific to others. During the second quarter, American families were briefly distracted from the absolute a** kicking of the Denver Broncos (I'm a Manning fan fyi) to a 60 second beautiful rendition of "America the Beautiful" sung in different languages.

Any rational human being would appreciate what the ad was trying to portray. The reality that America, and its anthems, do not belong to one type of American, but to a variety of citizens of all skin colors, who happen to speak other languages. And wait for it...... have different types of families just as valid as the mom and dad in the Cheerios commercial. Of course some others have an issue with this family too, but that type of disillusionment is so appalling its not worth the time of this Black queer woman married to a White queer woman with a biracial baby.

"Honey that Black man is married to that White woman and their eating Cheerios!!"
Can't believe the "Race War" still rages on in the psyche of some Americans.

At the tail end of Coke's commercial came a scene of two men holding on for dear life as they teach their daughter to roller skate. Naturally this rattled the red, white, and blue off of some God fearing Americans, who still hold on to the notion that the Superbowl is a "family event," so no gays allowed!

Despite Coca-Cola's recent "Share a Coke" debacle, and continued sponsorship of the Olympics in Sochi, this is a refreshing acknowledgement that all types of families should be respected and drink Coke, I guess. While I applaud Coke's fearlessness to state the obvious, I'm not ready to extend my shiny rainbow of friendship to them just yet (can't share that with just anybody). Time will tell if if this was a statement from the heart, or a high profile placation to the gay community for all of their past missteps. For a good laugh, or cry, check out the Twitter firestorm the commercial caused on  E Online

Until the next inqueery,
See ya'.
